Syphilis rates have been increasing across the US for the past 15 years, with cases in Baltimore City being 4.5 times higher than the national rate. Men who seek men are at the highest risk. We are looking to reverse these trends.
USHINE (Understanding Sexual Health in Networks) is a collaborative research study conducted by the Baltimore City Health Department and Johns Hopkins University to improve the overall sexual health of the Baltimore community, particularly among men who seek men. Recognizing the barriers of distrust and respect, we are focused on finding the most effective ways to involve participants throughout the research process and conduct more meaningful research. Join us on this path of mutual learning and discovery.
With USHINE, we hope to fully understand the social and sexual systems that play a part in Baltimore's rich tapestry to ensure a healthier life for everyone.
